The story of Petra Sweets began long before our first store opened. Ahmed Shneik laid the foundation with his extensive experience in making baklava and other Middle Eastern sweets, an experience that would later become the beginning of a family business.

Over 40 Years of Experience in Confectionery

Ahmed Shneik has worked in the confectionery industry for over 40 years. During this time, he has gained extensive experience in selecting ingredients, recipes, and methods for preparing baklava and other traditional Middle Eastern sweets.

In 2012, Ahmed moved to Stockholm, where he continued working in the field he knows best: confectionery.

As time went by, the idea of starting his own business began to grow. A business where his experience and knowledge could continue and one day be passed on to the next generation.

From a Small Cart to a Bigger Dream

In 2017, the family took the first steps towards what would become Petra Sweets.

It all started simply – a small cart, Ahmed’s experience, and the family’s desire to build something special together.

Ahmed was responsible for making the sweets, while his sons began to participate in the business and its development. As more people discovered our products, the number of customers began to grow.

Many of them returned to purchase again and recommended our products to their friends and family, and demand gradually increased.

Thus, the small business began to transform into something bigger.

2020 – Petra City AB Is Founded

In 2020, Petra City AB was founded, the company behind Petra Sweets.

From the beginning, the family had the ambition to open its own store, but at this stage the focus was on developing production and building the business step by step with a long-term perspective.

Petra Sweets began supplying baklava and Middle Eastern sweets to stores, companies, and various businesses in Stockholm.

Through this, many customers were introduced to our products for the first time through other stores and points of sale.

As more people became familiar with our products and began asking where they could purchase directly from us, the next step became clear.

2021 – Opening the First Petra Sweets Store

In 2021, we opened our first Petra Sweets store in Vinsta, Vällingby.

This was a very important step for the family. For the first time, Petra Sweets had its own dedicated location where we could welcome our customers and offer them our products directly under our own name.

What started with many years of experience, and then developed into a small business, has now become our own store.

But the journey did not end there.

From Vällingby to Other Parts of Stockholm

After opening our first store in Vällingby, Petra Sweets continued to grow and expand.

2021 – Vinsta, Vällingby

Opening of the first Petra Sweets store.

2023 – Skärholmen

Opening our next store and continuing our expansion.

2024 – Sollentuna

Opening a new location and reaching even more customers in Stockholm.

2026 – Kista Galleria

A new chapter begins with the opening of our location in Kista.

Behind every step are years of hard work, long days, many challenges, and a family desire to build a business that lasts and develops over time.

Two Generations, One Passion

Today, Ahmed and his sons continue to run and develop Petra Sweets together.

Ahmed’s extensive experience meets the ideas and ambitions of the new generation, helping Petra Sweets preserve the knowledge and expertise on which the company was founded, while continuing to develop and grow.

Today, our business includes baklava and Middle Eastern sweets, cakes, several stores, an online store, and wholesale sales for businesses.

Much has changed since the beginning, but the foundation remains the same:

Today, Petra Sweets is one of the leading names in baklava and Middle Eastern sweets in Stockholm, with several stores, a growing range of products, and services for both individuals and businesses.

Our vision is to continue developing and reach more customers throughout Sweden, while preserving the expertise, quality, and traditions that have been the foundation of Petra Sweets from the beginning.

We also want to continue developing our products and pass on our experience and knowledge to future generations.
